microhive.social is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
Should @pixelfed explore adding native support for Bluesky/AtProto?
Feedback wanted!
I should probably get in touch with the #PeerTube developers
It would be cool to support following PeerTube accounts in Loops and seeing their videos in your Following feed.
I'm really proud of the ecosystem I'm building around @pixelfed
We have some really innovative features that are unique to our platform, and are powered by microservices like:
https://api.fedidb.org
https://beagle.pixelfed.net
https://fdroid.pixelfed.net
https://push.pixelfed.net
https://recovery.pixelfed.org
https://versions.pixelfed.org
With @loops and @supapp on the horizon, you can expect a few more π
I really need to blog about this, because I'm having a blast π
Create a Starter Kit with all your existing friends/fam and share the link or QR code and the invited person will be onboarded and auto follow all accounts in the kit, along with other auto settings.
The best part is Pixelfed Starter Kits are ActivityPub objects, and will be compatible with other software!
I am working on a FEP π
Could this happen anywhere else?
Two social media competitors collaborating, to this degree?
ActivityPub isn't just different, it's the future.
The future where people are prioritized, not profited from.
If someone needs it, there is a Fediwall for the SFSCON in Bolzano next weekend. Really excited to get there again and be part of the Fediverse Track of the conference :)
Location: Berlin
Iβm just a guy from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada
If my lil @pixelfed project threatens Meta to the degree they join the fediverse, ban links or mentions of pixelfed, threaten legal action over photo filter names or copy features or side projects like Loops
I canβt do anything
But think Iβm on to something
Someone joined our Discord to post that @vidzy was a better alternative to Loops.
It's not a competition on the fediverse, because no matter where you are, everyone wins.
I love supporting fellow #fediverse projects, and look forward to working with the Vidzy team on federation and potentially a universal API so clients will be interoperable with both Loops and Vidzy.
You should follow them, they need more visibility β€οΈ
π Hey Fediverse!
We're Pixelfed. We help run key #fediverse sites you probably use, like https://fediDB.org and https://fediverse.info.
We're also launching Loops (https://loops.video), a new platform for short video sharing.
To keep these services running and build a better Fediverse, we need your support!
