It now has an additional step where you switch off email notifications for new followers on the account you're moving to.

Apparently some people have been receiving lots of email notifications for new followers when they've transferred followers over. For some reason no one has raised this issue before, but it seems to have happened to a number of people.

O Mastodon é um acumulador compulsivo e acabo de remover 50 GB em mídias, a maioria do cache do fediverso.

Também já cheguei a quebrar o servidor no início porque não sobrava espaço no disco.

Como apagar mídias do cache que sejam mais velhas que 3 dias:

tootctl media remove --days 3
```

Como apagar mídias, incluindo cabeçalhos e avatares:

```
tootctl media remove --days 3 --prune-profiles true
```

Os dois acima são para perfis sem relacionamentos com seus usuários (seguidor/seguido). Só gente aleatória que passou pela linha federada.

Como apagar imagens de miniaturas de links:

```
tootctl preview_cards remove --days 15
```

Não usem menos de 15 dias pois é o tempo que o Mastodon demora para gerar elas de novo.

Como apagar toots de usuários remotos que não interagiram com os seus:

```
tootctl statuses remove
```

Apagar mídias órfãs de posts apagados por seus usuários:

```
tootctl media remove-orphans
```

Limpar o cache do Mastodon:

```
tootctl cache clear
```

Bem que o Mastodon poderia incluir isso tudo e permitir configurar pelo painel de administração, como já permite para algumas coisas no menu Configurações do Servidor > Retenção de conteúdo.

#Mastodon should give you an option to "unvote" a poll you voted in -- in case you messed up your answer. There's no way to correct it

I've just incremented the number of streaming and puma processes so Mastodon should be more responsive and show less 500 errors.

It was already quite fast and the 500 errors were rare, but this won't harm

In fairness, looking (from the outside) at the upgrade experiences of a number of #Mastodon nodes where I have accounts, the latest of which was an aborted 4.4 to 4.5 upgrade on one node (not this one) that lost a day's worth of data, I think that we can put this down to the general nature of the Mastodon upgrade process rather than the platform that it runs on.

Mind you, I have yet to hear of a large complex WWW-involved system with SQL-back ends where upgrades are *not* fraught with pitfalls. (-:

@stefano need some #mastodonhelp am running my #mastodon on my own little #FreeBSD server. Since the port is no longer maintained, any advice on how to upgrade and maintain? Even with ports every upgrade I've done so far has been a real problem requiring me to start my server over or manually migrate the SQL database. I'm currently on 4.3.6.

So apparently mastodon quoting is unique to mastodon and they dont support or build on top of the already exsisting activitypub quoting so now i cant quote stuff from non mastodon instances. YAY #mastodon

Does following a hashtag override your language settings, showing you posts you don't understand because they include a followed hashtag?

When a client opens a post on the #Mastodon web, why doesn’t it open in the user’s instance so that they can just interact normally with posts? This seems like a huge blocker for new users because the mental model doesn’t match the way all the other websites in the world work. #ux

- You can change the default privacy for quoting your messages in Settings>Profile (default anyone can quote you)

- You can customize this privacy for each message (when composing)

- If you don't see the merged Boost/Quote button, make sure that you didn't disable it in Settings > Timelines
