Someone told me trail runners are just road runners who couldn’t handle real speed.
What do you think?
My VING NIRUN barefoot runners with carbon inlay arrived today... they are super light, fit perfectly, and I can't wait to try it out... #barefootrunning #running #effortlessrunning #Phuket
Thinking about doing an #Halloween #BackyardUltra in my backyard. 6,6km round, about 120m altitude. Actually, I want to try this myself. But would love to have support. Maybe i invite some like minded crazy people.
After years of daily runs, I've discovered that my favorite running temperature is 64°F. What’s yours? Share your ideal running conditions.

During my run I ran with another runner. We talked about running and various training methods. He runs with power with a stride foot device.
Does anyone in the community have experience with this? Is it useful?
Friday started the fourth and final phase of my training cycle targeting the Atlanta Track Club’s Grand Prix Cross Country 5k.
Taper week gets a little weird with both the Winship 5k and the start of Biketober, but I have a plan.

So, I've signed up for a Backyard Ultra to find out how far and long I can run.
Turns out the race format makes for awesome documentaries. I particularly liked this one: BREAKING POINT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTPf4MmPw2E
One runner collapses after running 350k. Paramedic: "Whatever you're into I suppose. Better than meth."
Guy who came in 2nd runs with pneumonia so that guy in 1st place can break the world record.
Guy in 1st has a hypnotist helping him sleep between rounds.
Really glad to have picked up a Garmin watch and to follow one of their “Garmin Coach” programs.
I’m regularly frustrated by too short, too slow sessions, but I’m making faster and more consistent progress than I did when I just winged my trainings.
I know without the coach to stop me I would have already injured myself.
Good Morning Peeps ☀️ 🌅
I was back at it again at the crack of dawn 0530Hrs - Out with my head torch on, and then back when the sun had risen.
🌡️ 24°c, 90% humidity, feels like 27°c
This was another good and not good run - good because of more even paced km's.
- Not good because I had to keep it at r.p.e 3 - 4 because I'm still feeling the tail end of this cold labouring my breathing.
However it was still an enjoyable morning of hill running.
Today was the last #training #run before Saturday’s #halfmarathon #race!
I feel ready!!!!
Meine Laufziele bis 2026 | Der Laufende
Nachtrag: Am 12.

Ideale Bedingungen also. :-) #barefootrunning #running
Whenever I see people #running, jogging, walking, moving — they are happy people!
I don't understand people walking on a trail, still heads down buried in their phones.
Be present, enjoy the sight, the sound, the air, and the vibe around you! We only have limited time!

Medical update: Apart from the numbness in my feet, reflexes are completely absent in my legs. No wonder I cannot run and have difficulties walking. Strength is considered to be ok. Blood tests show nothing particular. A last test to be done to exclude Lyme. In the meantime I’ve been given vit. B supplements and magnesium, although all values are within normal limits. 🤔
It is 24 days since my last run. The flu was mild but odd. Monday last week I had to visit a doctor since I felt really bad, like fainting and had trouble getting enough oxygen. He found nothing, X-ray was OK and only white blood cells were slightly elevated. Then it just went away. Hopefully never returning.
So I went #running today. It was supposed to be slower but I was too eager (stressed, frustrated?) and went faster than I should have.
Anyways, 5.59 km, 35 mins, avg pace 6.13 min/km mostly in zone 3, some in 4 and 2. Breathing was a bit laborious. Looking forward to the next one.
☁️ 13°C
Early evening run
The times of mist and rain are upon us.
12k road, after a dreich day, mainly road and done at pace as muggins had forgotten the head torch and the four legged chump didn’t have his reflective jacket.
The Mintos (we ran under the climb) can just be seen peering out from the end of the road.
Morning Run |
Run: Distance: 7.7km, Elevation Gain: 105m, Moving Time: 00:45:06, Pace: 5:53/km, Estimated Avg Power: 202.3 (from power meter), Weighted Avg Power: 198
I put my race ticket up for sale for Cold Hawaii Ultra 2025 - 50 miles 😭
I am not fully recovered from Mors 100 Miles yet. And this 50 miler is already on Saturday. And with Kullamannen by UTMB in ~6 weeks I believe this choice is my best solution.
I hope to recover well and fully from Mors soon(ish) and *then* finish strong with a good block of specialized training for Kullamannen.
(Mors was not planned originally so it conflicted with Cold here 😅)
Kilian: if it is easy terrain like this, a bit boring, it is difficult to stay awake.
2:45 into the video. Take a look at the easy terrain… 😅😜
#laufen
I'll try self-made energy gel for the early run tomorrow. Maltodextrin, fructose, pectin and coffee ina reusable flask. So far it's not firm enough. Let's see how it looks tomorrow morning. #running

Ich wünsche euch einen schönen Sonntag!

On this #LongRunSunday I ran my 66th #HalfMarathon -- an easy one on #Snoqualmie Valley Trail: 13.14mi time 2:06:11 pace 9’36”/mi. The last 2mi picked up a bit pace but nothing serious.

✅ 11K Run
Second (and last) run for the week. The run went ok. Power is slowly returning (although very far from normal). Niggles around knees “moved around” >> excellent 😎 (better than one or more specific issue points). Was pretty exhausted afterwards which says a lot about my overall state (that I’m in full blown recovery ❤️🩹 mode still).
Morning Run |
Run: Distance: 8.3km, Elevation Gain: 10m, Moving Time: 00:48:28, Pace: 5:49/km, Estimated Avg Power: 204.7 (from power meter), Weighted Avg Power: 201
I got in a nice 7km run tonight, feeling better after having had a cold. Did the first 30 min or so in HR zone 2, then got irritated with the pace and decided to go a little faster for the last half hour. That might be the plan going forward. I believe in the expanded fitness levels that zone 2 builds, but it suuuucks!
Dedicating this run to my friend @Lee6, wishing him and his family strength and hoping his dad has a rapid and full recovery from his stroke. 🙏 ❤️
I ran a backyard ultra last night. Got to 15 laps or 100km. Woohoo 🎉🎉 More than happy since my trainingblock was virtually nonexistant. My legs (especially one) are toast. Now I've cot to carry my gear back to the trainstation and then back home. The fun ensues!
#laufen 25-078 12,0km 1:08h - das quiz mit den #retroboys

2h and a few loops speed hiking on the hill later:
- 2km to the hill
- 8km (15 loops up and down)
-> 4km with 750m of EG
-> 4km with 750m of EL
- 2km from the hill
Quite slippery and muddy today. The rain and thunderstorms passed a few KMs to the right and left of me. Beautiful rainbow.
Love this hill (300m/EG 50m) you can just chug along up and down and it never gets boring. And the slow and short runs down are better than nothing to train your quads.
Morning Run |
Run: Distance: 8.0km, Elevation Gain: 8m, Moving Time: 00:44:21, Pace: 5:34/km, Estimated Avg Power: 213.8 (from power meter), Weighted Avg Power: 209
6K Run 🏃🏻♂️
Tried my new Garmin Enduro 3 which I got today. My Forerunner 955 is ok still but it had 9% battery after Mors. That was the trigger! I want a watch with an abundance of battery for my longer ultras 🤠.
Watch aside: knee caps still broken. The short run today even triggered a little left calf muscle strain (as in super mild… but there). So I’m for sure NOT recovered at all after the 100 miler 😂. Pretty rough recovery needs this time 😀…
#laufen 25-077 10,4km 0:58h - neue amiga sprechstunde, direkt ins ohr damit.
https://ewiggestern.podigee.io/151-amiga-sprechstunde-21-folge-151
You should take off from work for a week as well, @moelholm and do 700 rounds à 1.4km

Early morning run. I had to wake up at a ridiculous hour (04:00) because I had to be back home at 06:15 to bring my eldest son to the train station for the hike he has planned with a couple of friends for the next few days.
The forecast being rain, I started with my jacket on. But it was not raining and the jacket was too hot, so I carried it for the whole run.
Tuesday, I have a V̇O2 max workout of 6×3:00 @ 105-108% CP/FTP off 2:45. It's a tough workout, especially given that my CP recently increased.
However, I'm running the Chicago Marathon on October 12 and I am thinking of replacing that with the Yasso 800s as a time predictor. That workout is 10×800m @ 102-105% CP off ~3:15 (give or take).
I'm curious how well it'll predict my marathon finish time, so I'm kind of leaning that direction over the V̇O2 max workout.
1/2
An alternate to the Yasso 800s is the "Rosario 800s" by NAZ coach Ben Rosario. It's a different spin on the Yasso 800s. It's essentially 4×(800m @ 102-105% CP, 800m @ 95-98% CP), no recovery.
Basically, it's 4 standard Yasso 800m workouts followed by 4 800m floats. That's a beefier workout and honestly scares me.
What would you do?
1. Stick to the plan.
2. Do the Yasso 800s.
3. Do the Rosario 800s.

Evening run. A dramatic sky as the sun came down and we ran between showers and the dug was delighted to find I had secreted a frisbee in my running pack.
8.5k Road
For the first time in a long time, I’ve been able to go for a light jog and talk to someone at the same time.
I crave more running, but the program said “don’t over do it, muscles heal when you rest” and the doctor said “don’t over do it, shin splints come back faster the second time.”
It was busy in the forest today - on and off the trails.
Encouters, in no particular order:
- 3 deers
- 1 rabbit
- 2 moose
- 1 cat
- 1 horse (and rider)
- 1 squad army unit (enjoyed their company for 15-20 minutes then they disappeared into a different direction)
My elderly dad had a stroke yesterday and is now hospitalised and stable so inbetween visits I just needed to run and I feel much better for it 🏃🏻🩵

✨Kullamannen 100 Miles++
I received this update today regarding my Swedish 🇸🇪 trail running adventure. You were right @recollir 😆
So hehe that’s … “interesting”. Yeah Kullamannen by UTMB is indeed unique 🤠
