Another cloudy, humid start.
Yesterday was surprisingly cool for a July day in Malta (only 30°c) so overnight temp & humidity were not too bad. Sadly the thick morning cloud wouldn't release any of that stale air, so it's another damp start.

Different start to my manmade trail route (It looks like a fish!) which oddly shortened it - Still a tonne of fun, plus BIG puddle to run through, so soaked feet, laughing & smiling 😁

Durham city 10km 47:20 gun time 46:32 chip time slightly better than a minute faster than last year. It felt warmer, really humid and 6km before the water point was a long way. I also made the mistake of having some gummy sweets before the run and was close to stopping feeling sick at 6km. I had enough energy for the finish around palace green. Great views of the cathedral not that many of the runners would have noticed. Awful goody bag with chicken, gelatine squashy sweets and turmeric nonsense. I continue to have a love hate relationship with the course especially south street and the run up to palace green.

40,5K mit voll bepackter Laufweste, im hügeligen Gelände und das Ganze bei 26 Grad. Es war für mich recht hart, hat aber auch richtig Spaß gemacht.
Besonders weil irgendwie alles gepasst hat. Laufttempo, Gehpausen, Schuhe, Verpflegung, Sortierung in der Laufweste, Schweissbänder usw..
Die Angst vor Ü40K ist bei mir seit heute vollkommen verflogen. Das Hauptziel ist erreicht 👍🙂👍 Kann weitergehen 🤗

And if you look at the list of suspensions against Kenyan runners this year, I would even be in favor to exclude the entire country and all athletes from track&fields and other running events for some time. It is clear they have a wide spread doping problem and no control of it.

Running store doesn’t stock Kinvara. I hope the marketing genius that decided to wreck that shoe is working at WalMart in a swamp. They took a shoe that had cult-like following and completely destroyed it to the point running stores don’t even have it available to order #running
Enough #hiking and #openWater #swimming. Back home, back to the river, back to running. My bones were still a bit stiff from yesterday's nine-hour drive, and the temperature was already too high for me. So, just an enjoyable slow jog in zone 1.

I got into rucking as a way to improve my running endurance and form. After some solid advice from @Wolf I loaded up my pack and hit the road. I've outgrown the weights I had so I looked online for some new ones. They're crazy expensive. (Including a 10lb cast iron "tactical" rucking plate for $80 😂) Luckily I found a tutorial on making your own sandbags by filling baggies with sand and wrapping them in duct tape. My total cost? $10. #running #rucking #exercise
Ran 5k on the trail today after work, because people hate trees and they forget the city gets unbearably hot when there isn’t tree cover. So, trail.
It’s about 1k from my house to the trail and 3k of trail.
So those 3k of trail were manageable.
The 1k I had to run from my house to the trail and then from the trail back home were very hard.
Temperature was about 34C not considering humidex.
We really need more trees.
114 years and he finished his last marathon in 2011 after taking up running at 89! So there is hope for everyone.
But I have to commend the name of his running group - ‘Sikhs in the City’
Not that I have a lot of running laundry otherwise as I usually (always) hand rinse/wash the clothes after a run and then reuse them once or twice. Takes only a minute or two. #trailrunning #running #teamshirtless

Just tried a new approach. Sand running, not much impact on the leg and stretching all the different muscles. Bearable pain. Let’s see how it feels tomorrow.

After a month or so of minor injuries and illness I finally had a training run that didn’t involve stopping and/or walking.
11km at a 5:16/km (tempo) pace with an average heart rate slightly above my zone 2. Felt great!
A story of running, aging resilience and tragedy (not necessarily in that order). Focus on the resilience. And the running.
As my wife says repeatedly, age is not a disease. Don't stop.

Jeder sofort von 0 auf 100 jeder sofort Marathon in 2 Jahren als wäre es das Normalste der Welt. Spinnen alle. Gib dir und deinem Körper immer Zeit. The Veluwezoom trail run went as planned today. The goal was an average pace of 7min/km. To achieve that, I'd decided to run the first 20km at my base heart rate of 129. If I still had some energy left in the last 10km, I could let go. And that's pretty much how it went. Although the heat and high humidity also caused a slight increase in heart rate.
Final verdict: Mission accomplished! 😊✅

Seit ich selbst wieder laufe, finde ich es schade, dass hier unter den entsprechenden Hashtags praktisch keine Anfänger*innen schreiben. Aber klar, im Verhältnis gibt es natürlich auch nur wenige Neulinge, die dann auch noch schnell Fortschritte machen.
Dass es mit den Fortschritten sehr schnell gehen kann, sehe ich an mir selbst: Kürzlich waren es noch 1-Minuten-Intervalle - gestern habe ich schon fast 40 Minuten am Stück geschafft. 🤩 Superlangsam, aber na und?
Die ersten 12K sind in den neuen Brooks gelaufen. Ich hatte ihn für gechillte Läufe 🏃🏻♂️ bis max. 15K gekauft und für das ist er auch bestens geeignet 👍
Laut Runner's World ist mein Brooks Ghost 16 der beliebteste stabile Laufschuh in Deutschland. Einerseits kann ich das verstehen. Andererseits ist der Schuh recht schmal geschnitten. Für meine Füsschen prima. Aber haben wirklich so viele Läufer solche schmalen Füße wie ich? 🤔
Ja, ich hab noch ein Paar Xero HFS und ein Paar Xero Scrambler Low, beide neuwertig, beide nur als Backup falls mal ein Veranstalter sagt "no sandals".

Bei angenehm frischen 28 Grad in Tokio konnte ich gestern eine längere Strecke zurücklegen, ohne durch die Hitze erschlagen zu werden. So habe ich tatsächlich über 35 km geschafft. Bis zum Marathon ist es nicht mehr weit. Wenn möglich, möchte ich ihn gern nächstes Jahr schaffen.
Very slow and long 10.8’sh miles in very humid conditions. But! I might’ve found my new favorite road—winding, some fun hills, 1 1/2 lanes wide but paved. And of panoramic hilltop views before dipping down into shaded hollows.
Busy morning😃Run to ParkRun on my own. Met up with my wife and son. We all did ParkRun. I jogged round with my son for his PB (out of 2 attempts so far) and my wife came 4th in her age category and 20th woman overall. It feels like half of Munich was #running in the last weekend's SportScheck RUN. There was over 6200 people just at the half marathon + many more at the 10k and 5k.
It's great to see so many people running at once. The event is very welcoming to people every level.
