#BackyardUltra #running world championships are ... running since Saturday. There are still 52 people running, on lap and hour 49! They all completed 200mi=320km, they are in their 3rd day, no sleep, and are still running (or walking).
This is ... extreme!
Not sure whether to write this up, but did a run.
I had DNF'd this race *five* times before. 😱 Got it done this time, I don't need to come back. 😁
Didn't go to plan but there was a "plan a, plan b and plan c", plan b it was. Dragged home for the last leg by my excellent pacer for my "one day" buckle. 👌

24hr world championships just finished. With 3 women among the best 10 runners. And those 3 women also breaking the world record of 270km by Miho Nakata.
Sarah Webster (GBR) 277km, Holly Ranson (AUS) 273km, Miho Nakata (JPN) 271km
Men’s winner was Andrii Tkachuk (UKR) 294km. The world record here is by Sorokin with 319km. He decided to not start as he was still recovering (mentally and bodily) from the sub 6h 100km attempt eight weeks ago and thought he would not be up yet to endure the stress of this championship event.

14 days since last charge 🪫. It is now at 10% battery 🔋. During these two weeks it has been used for tracking ~27 hours of GPS activities (Run + Walk primarily).
It's adventure time again!
Starting tomorrow around 06:00, I will run the complete length of the Eifelsteig in Germany, from Aachen to Trier. The idea is to do this in 4 solo unsupported day stages. My lovely wife, Mieke, will man our van that will function as support point for the nights.

Meine zweiten 45K lief ich wieder auf einem 3K Rundkurs am Adenauer Weiher.
Ziel war es diesmal am Anfang so zu laufen, dass ich am Ende nicht einbreche.
Das war nämlich bei meinen ersten 45K vor 5 Wochen ein Problem 😬
Fazit: Ziel erreicht 👍🙂
Jetzt beginnt eine kurze Tapering-Phase für den Drachenlauf nächste Woche Sonntag 🤗

A somewhat new route back from the garage, it's getting harder to find a route that does not include cows. I had managed to walk on the edge of one field to avoid them. The other herd I didn't see them until they poked their head up over the hill. It got a bit hairy as they were all curious and started to follow us. No matter what route we took they just came closer and closer. But what scared Paddy the most was the Alpaca's who came storming towards us and made the funniest sounds.

Back in early July, my wife and I got sick after visiting her sister. When that happened, all of the motivation and desire to run afterwards dwindled. Then I got sick again in August, and any sliver of that desire, completely vanished.
Now, I’m laying in bed, thinking of how I need that desire to go out running again.
One of the main reasons I've stuck with Ghosts for several years now is they're the only shoe I can consistently get 300 miles out of before the left heel wears down too much.
I liked these On Cloudstratus for speed runs, but the left heel is almost gone already after barely 200 miles and have to be retired now.
Running shoes are too expensive to give less than 300 miles, no matter how comfortable they might be.
Registered for a local 6 hours timed race on a 400m indoor track this December. It sounds like an interesting, maybe meditative experience to run in circles for a prolonged period. Let’s see what future me makes out of todays mes decisions. 😅
Anyone tried the format? Suggestions about preparing mentally and physically? Pacing strategies? Using all the xmas treats to fuel the effort?
Ich bin so stolz auf mich.
Heute war der Tag, dass konnte ich fühlen. Nach unregelmäßigen Runden durch Wetter und fehlender Motivation habe ich mich an die große Runde, mein aktuelles Ziel gewagt.
Geplant waren 13.47km. Hab es noch etwas erweitert. Limit waren vorher 12km. Am Wasser lang war viel schöner als an den Hauptstraßen lang.
15.18km war wirklich der Wahnsinn. Gelaufen in 1Std 33 Min

Seit dem Ende des Dämmermarathons ist der #Franklin-Meilenlauf der einzige #Halbmarathon in #Mannheim. Nach über zwei Jahren Verletzungspause wollte ich bei dieser Veranstaltung mein Comeback feiern. Ob es geglückt ist, könnt ihr in meinem #Laufbericht nachlesen.
Ich hab heute meine Laufstrecke ungewollt nochmal um einen Kilometer verlängert. Eigentlich wollte ich nur über eine weitere Brücke laufen, aber dann bin ich falsch abgebogen und durch ein Wohngebiet geirrt. Dann ging noch Nieselregen los und ich bin jetzt doch insgesamt ziemlich fertig.
Aber hey, damit habe ich 16km geschafft.
🚴 🏃 Nachdem ich den optimalen Zeitpunkt für ein Mittagsschläfchen verpasst habe, wollte ich laufen gehen. Aber, weil die Wolken kurzfristig beschlossen haben abzuregnen bin ich erst in den Keller, den Schauer "wegtrampeln" und dann laufen 🕺
Zurzeit meint #Garmin ja ich würde sterben, glücklicherweise gibt #intervalsicu eher meine aktuelle #Fitness wieder 😅
