#laufen 25-078 12,0km 1:08h - das quiz mit den #retroboys
https://ewiggestern.podigee.io/150-jubilaum-das-quiz-folge-150
2h and a few loops speed hiking on the hill later:
- 2km to the hill
- 8km (15 loops up and down)
-> 4km with 750m of EG
-> 4km with 750m of EL
- 2km from the hill
Quite slippery and muddy today. The rain and thunderstorms passed a few KMs to the right and left of me. Beautiful rainbow.
Love this hill (300m/EG 50m) you can just chug along up and down and it never gets boring. And the slow and short runs down are better than nothing to train your quads.

6K Run 🏃🏻♂️
Tried my new Garmin Enduro 3 which I got today. My Forerunner 955 is ok still but it had 9% battery after Mors. That was the trigger! I want a watch with an abundance of battery for my longer ultras 🤠.
Watch aside: knee caps still broken. The short run today even triggered a little left calf muscle strain (as in super mild… but there). So I’m for sure NOT recovered at all after the 100 miler 😂. Pretty rough recovery needs this time 😀…
#laufen 25-077 10,4km 0:58h - neue amiga sprechstunde, direkt ins ohr damit.
https://ewiggestern.podigee.io/151-amiga-sprechstunde-21-folge-151
You should take off from work for a week as well, @moelholm and do 700 rounds à 1.4km

Early morning run. I had to wake up at a ridiculous hour (04:00) because I had to be back home at 06:15 to bring my eldest son to the train station for the hike he has planned with a couple of friends for the next few days.
The forecast being rain, I started with my jacket on. But it was not raining and the jacket was too hot, so I carried it for the whole run.
Tuesday, I have a V̇O2 max workout of 6×3:00 @ 105-108% CP/FTP off 2:45. It's a tough workout, especially given that my CP recently increased.
However, I'm running the Chicago Marathon on October 12 and I am thinking of replacing that with the Yasso 800s as a time predictor. That workout is 10×800m @ 102-105% CP off ~3:15 (give or take).
I'm curious how well it'll predict my marathon finish time, so I'm kind of leaning that direction over the V̇O2 max workout.

An alternate to the Yasso 800s is the "Rosario 800s" by NAZ coach Ben Rosario. It's a different spin on the Yasso 800s. It's essentially 4×(800m @ 102-105% CP, 800m @ 95-98% CP), no recovery.
Basically, it's 4 standard Yasso 800m workouts followed by 4 800m floats. That's a beefier workout and honestly scares me.
What would you do?
1. Stick to the plan.
2. Do the Yasso 800s.
3. Do the Rosario 800s.

Evening run. A dramatic sky as the sun came down and we ran between showers and the dug was delighted to find I had secreted a frisbee in my running pack.
8.5k Road
For the first time in a long time, I’ve been able to go for a light jog and talk to someone at the same time.
I crave more running, but the program said “don’t over do it, muscles heal when you rest” and the doctor said “don’t over do it, shin splints come back faster the second time.”
It was busy in the forest today - on and off the trails.
Encouters, in no particular order:
- 3 deers
- 1 rabbit
- 2 moose
- 1 cat
- 1 horse (and rider)
- 1 squad army unit (enjoyed their company for 15-20 minutes then they disappeared into a different direction)
My elderly dad had a stroke yesterday and is now hospitalised and stable so inbetween visits I just needed to run and I feel much better for it 🏃🏻🩵

✨Kullamannen 100 Miles++
I received this update today regarding my Swedish 🇸🇪 trail running adventure. You were right @recollir 😆
So hehe that’s … “interesting”. Yeah Kullamannen by UTMB is indeed unique 🤠
Looks like I might end up running in the soon to be "dark and scary" North this year.
So I'm looking for some lights while out on the trails. I got a random assortments of cycling lights and head torches. And only 5% of my running will be on road, if I'm really unlucky. I have plenty rear lights that I can attach on my person or running west, so that's not a worry. It's more forward, as all my light are either Dyno lights or something you attach to handle bars.
What lights are you using?

I've got a Backyard Ultra coming up this weekend.
My preparations did not go well and I am really unsure what to expect.
60 minutes elliptical
So today could not be running. My knees have had some inflammation going on since the weekend ultra (Mors 100 Miles). Legs otherwise ok. Nothing like muscular breakdown as after mountain ultras. Instead this is different. So I need to recover more before I dare run again 🤠🤣
Next ultra in 10 days or so 🫨
Yesterday I had to be in Edinburgh for a meeting, so the dug and I took the opportunity to start off early and run the ‘Skyline’ run (now the Carnethy Skyloop https://runabc.co.uk/carnethy-skyloop-replaces-pentland-skyline-race) for reasons.
A glorious, if not fantastically fast 26k, in 3:17. Even the dug was pooped (but he had run rather further than me).
Showered, changed and left the dug with friends in Edinburgh before a little of the ‘day job’.
This morning I had a tempo run: 3x14'.
It was hard work, but I am glad I did it. It was difficult to keep my place high enough to keep my HR in the desired tempo zone.

Uuuurgh I just viewed photos from a running event I participated in yesterday...
And I think I can finally diagnose and trace back all my issues I regularly get when increasing training load to seveeere supination.
I mean ouch, look at that!
Imagine running a 5K @4:30/km pace like that 😵💫😵💫

A major goal of mine has finally been met. I just registered for the 2026 #BostonMarathon.
I only have a 2:51 buffer which I don't think will be enough to guarantee my entry, but the fact that I was able to qualify and now register is a big first step.
I just have to wait a week before I get the confirmation or rejection letter.
I know “Running with the Buffaloes” is supposed to be this amazing story about a great XC team but after I read it I was like “3/4s of the team was injured and a guy died, why are we celebrating this coach?” #running
This makes my proofreading blood turn cold. The medal of The Great North Run half marathon, which takes place near the River Tyne, which flows through Newcastle and Gateshead, features… the Wear, which flows through rival city Sunderland.

#LongRunSunday back to Sammamish River Trail for an easy half marathon + 4 strides at the end: 13.14mi time 2:06:27 pace 9’37”/mi. Avg HR 132bpm. 🙂
What if humans are good long-distance runners because… they need to run from another group of good long-distance-running animals… humans?
(Just a thought)
Just back from a nice little 30 min run switching between easy, moderate and recovery pace with a few bursts of challenging pace. Nothing complex, nothing difficult and I enjoyed being out in the sun and the breeze running the country lanes. And that was my aim, no goal beyond getting out there and enjoying it. Maybe my love of it is starting to come back.
Thanks to an unwelcome work email and lots of appointments over the next three days fitting in #running is going to be a challenge. The nights have drawn in to the point that I can’t run in the evening any more. I might have to really push myself to run before work, aieeeee!

Verletzungen sind so gemein.

I’m about to do a long run on one of the region’s best routes, the Sammamish River Trail. As I park my car, I see someone in a gym running on the treadmill. Why?! The trail is in sight! 🤯 #running
Retirement update - after lots of reflection I hav decided to go bac to hands on clinical practice in the wonderful NHS - after all that’s y I became a nurse to deliver quality evidence based patient focused care - just 2 days a week so I wil move from retired to semi retired (lighthouse on Lake Michigan - Chicago)

Today marks an important milestone in my preparation for the #Cologne #Marathon.
I accomplished both the last training run beyond 30km and the week with the longest total distance: 33km today and 73km in total. At the same time my body is quite sore after 3 very hard weeks incl. a half marathon race.
⚠️👉🏻 As my uncle (experienced runner) said: "Now is the time where you have to run with your head, not with your feet."

✅ Mors 100 Miles
Mors is the name of a tiny island in Denmark 🇩🇰 btw. That took 18 hours and 11 minutes. Current status: legs absolutely destroyed. They need recovery ❤️🩹 and zero running for a while 🤣. In terms of impact I think this is the most I’ve ever exposed my body for. This is because the race is 99% runnable, for 160 kilometers 😅
The entire island is behind this. Every house and person. Giving a unique heartfelt race. Words not enough.

Das war wieder mal sehr schön. 😍 Heute die gleiche Runde, wie letzten Sonntag. Also 23 km und ca. 470 Höhenmeter. Trails, Asphalt und Schotter. 2 mal der Leidensweg Jesu Christi und 3 Kapellen. Ja, sehr katholische Gegend hier. ☺️ #running #trailrunning
Hoka Mach 6.
