Today was adventure time for me: I did a long run using the Extratrail network in the Ardennes, combining two marked routes.
74km and 2180m of EG.
Fun was had:
It drizzled when I started, which quickly turned into genuine rain. After 3 hours of rain all my rain gear leaked and I was drenched.
After 5hrs of running, I stumbled over an excellent/protruding rock and fell hard on my right knee. The knee is swollen and blue. I could still hike and later run.
Looks like Johans buddy Bas is still going strong on the 111K 5100m vert mountain adventure:
Nice Côte d'Azur by UTMB
That’s 22 hours on feet now (cutoff is 30 hours). All the worst elevation is done by now.
@Johan_Barelds 👏🏻😎
One week with Garmin Enduro 3 🔋
After one week of daily use, including ~10h of activities (~7.5h GPS), my watch was at 65%.
Looks like I’m covered for the long ultras wrt watch battery 🔋 life 🤩.
Bring it on Kullamannen 🤠👏🏻
I put my race ticket up for sale for Cold Hawaii Ultra 2025 - 50 miles 😭
I am not fully recovered from Mors 100 Miles yet. And this 50 miler is already on Saturday. And with Kullamannen by UTMB in ~6 weeks I believe this choice is my best solution.
I hope to recover well and fully from Mors soon(ish) and *then* finish strong with a good block of specialized training for Kullamannen.
(Mors was not planned originally so it conflicted with Cold here 😅)
✨Kullamannen 100 Miles++
I received this update today regarding my Swedish 🇸🇪 trail running adventure. You were right @recollir 😆
So hehe that’s … “interesting”. Yeah Kullamannen by UTMB is indeed unique 🤠
60 minutes elliptical
So today could not be running. My knees have had some inflammation going on since the weekend ultra (Mors 100 Miles). Legs otherwise ok. Nothing like muscular breakdown as after mountain ultras. Instead this is different. So I need to recover more before I dare run again 🤠🤣
Next ultra in 10 days or so 🫨
✅ Mors 100 Miles
Mors is the name of a tiny island in Denmark 🇩🇰 btw. That took 18 hours and 11 minutes. Current status: legs absolutely destroyed. They need recovery ❤️🩹 and zero running for a while 🤣. In terms of impact I think this is the most I’ve ever exposed my body for. This is because the race is 99% runnable, for 160 kilometers 😅
The entire island is behind this. Every house and person. Giving a unique heartfelt race. Words not enough.
Its 20:00 CEST almost. Will be sleeping within 2 hour latest, because tomorrow morning is up early at 04:03 ⏰!! Then a very long day begins: a 100 miler starts at 09:30 🤩🤠👏🏻🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
I have bib 37 and if you need some really cool action (😆😅) then you can fall a sleep dot watching me and my fellow runners here:

Car packed. Running clothes ready. Breakfast ready. Hope I remember myself tomorrow morning also 😆🕺🏼
Today was solo adventure time!
I climbed Mont Valaisan, via Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, Mont Belvédère and Bella Valetta.
A bunch of great climbs, sometimes very technical. Nice flowing descents I could bomb down and other very technical ones I had to dance down. It was rather cold in the morning, but once I got lower again around noon it started to be very hot.
I had my first 100 miles race: The Mauerweglauf along the former Berlin wall.
After 80k I had to walk and after 120k there was no energy available and I couldnt walk well anymore, so I decided to stop.
Anyway, it was a great experience. The race itself but also my training throughout the year. It is the journey that matters :)
Trail race done, ok: Brooks O.U.T.81 ✅
That wasn’t easy 🤣. Many times I had near cramp signals. Everywhere in the legs - moving around making warnings.
Anyhow: best race ever - we also had the best sunny warm weather. Drank a lot. Ate a lot. Ran to my limit. Even got a 5th place 🤠🕺🏼. Actually I was told quite a few times I was third .. that changed after km 67. Two stronger runners passed me. Stressful running for podium
Throwback to a great adventure I had 3 years ago: I ran Höga Kustenleden in Sweden (154km) solo and unsupported, carrying everything needed on my back, in a 9kg pack.
I remember it as being tougher than I anticipated and a nice 2 days spending time on my own in beautiful surroundings.

Enjoy some pictures and a report I wrote back then.
Fond memories!
I wonder if triathlon-style brick workouts (run straight after bike) could be a good way to train for #ultrarunning . The most difficult part to train for an ultra is the last 25% of the race = very tired body and mind.
If you first hammer your body with bike and then run, you get to be on tired legs without a lot of impact caused by running first. Could avoid injury but train for fatigue.
Damn you Beau! I know you got me into trail running, now you are getting me into ultra running

Good morning fellow runners!
No running today for me: it was raining the whole morning and I didn't feel like going out. (I know)
Instead, I finished writing my race report on **Oslo Bergen Trail**.

And as a bonus, a photo which isn't in the report.
Enjoy reading!
