Normally, in normal weather, I take some water with me for distances over 20 km, water is the most important thing for me. I never take gels or similar during training, no matter how long the route is.
I also always take a small flask (250ml) with me for official races lasting several hours, even if there are refreshment stations, and Squeezy Liquid has proved its worth for me personally. A sip once an hour and that's it.
