Actually I don’t need to use the gels and bars. We have all the things to be self sufficient for one week in the house. Not a prepper but being ready is a thing I learned many years back while wearing a uniform.

Friday thoughts 2: The 5 million households in Sweden got this 30+ booklet during the week from MSB - “Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap” (Civil Contingencies Agency). They will chang their name into “Myndigheten för civilt försvar” (Civil Defense Agency).

Do my gels and bars count into the readiness stock of one week to be self sufficient?

Friday/Saturday/Sunday - volunteering as the meet director and chief referee for the swim competition of the kids swim club. Fr 1500-2000 and Sat/Sun 0700-1900. Let’s see when there will be time for a short run. At least it will be nice cosy warm. 🙃

Friday thoughts: I see so much snow in my timeline. And when I look out the window I see green grass (with blue skies) though it is fricking cold in Göteborg. 😎 The rest of SE (and parts of Europe) is covered in white. The east coast got up to 90cm. I am glad we didn’t get anything and did not repeat the November 1995 snowstorm that brought down Göteborg for a couple of days.

Activity quick edit, DMs, killing FatMaps, AI, … and now the API data access debacle. While bugs are not fixed or simple/requested features ignored/not implemented.

I’m even before that I doubted the value of the subscription and services (I only started using it as I got it gifted/free subscription). I will miss the heat map (and route builder). But that alone is definitely not worth the subscription price.

I track my subscriptions via a self hosted Wallos instance (a text file, spreadsheet, or calendar entry would also do it) so I would have been notified about the renewal and could have cancelled in time. But why wait. “Butter bei die Fische” as the Germans say. So it is done…

Another vert run. Today 15K and 627m of EG.

Yesterday it was “only” 9K and 644m of EG.

Both in 1h45min.

Which one was more “fun”? Yesterday (more climbing/scrambling/technical and much steeper).

Record time to become sold out for a 100M event in the UTMB series. Right, @mathias ??

But the 100M runners will be in a good surprise. 😮🤣 They are trying to change the course to 3 loops on the mountain and then do 175km instead of the 160km. As the post by the RD indicates.

Did 10k today in Shamma sandals in 6-5°C. All fine after the feet got warm after a few k - except for my left big toe, which got numb and complained quite hurtfully in the warm shower afterwards. So I guess I'll get him some cover next run. Anyway: Is that a problem with the (vegetative) nervs? It's always that toe, btw. And can I do something about that? I quite enjoy splashing through the November mud ...

Yesterday was the day I finally did my first

The run itself was just as much fun as the truly magnificent landscape around Moab, . At over 7 hours, I was slower than I had hoped, but I was able to enjoy the landscape to the fullest. If someone had told me 5ys ago, when I started , that I would be running an ultra at the age of 52, I wouldn't have believed it. Definitely a good feeling 😀

2 more days. Now at 131500m of EG for the year. 🤪

Today’s run: speed hiking, scrambling on wet roots, leaves and rocks. Good technical training. Should get some proper fall/winter scrambling gloves.

Great, easy week with focus on EG (my leg “strength training”): “only” 60km in total “but with” 3330m of EG - so 30km with 3330m up and 30km with 3330m down. Quite happy and satisfied. ⛰️🫏

Today I finished my first running event. The Kyburg Trail 21.1km.
The weather was foggy, the temperature always below 10°C.
As expected the others started too fast for me. Despite having started at the last third of the 172 starters it felt as a lot passed me by. That changed for the first time when the trail became slightly more technical and steep. At the last steep, slippery downhill single trail I passed a lot of runners who cautiously walked down. That part was real fun as well as the following single trail near the Töss river with jumps over fallen trees and once crawling underneath. Also the last steep part up with the stairs went fairly well. However my right calf and left thigh are pretty tired now.

I am really happy to have achieved all my goals.
✅ finished healthy (minimum)
✅ faster than 2:40 (realistic)
✅ faster than 2:30 (estimated best)

A big thanks to the organisers. I will definetly attend again.

Since my Kullamannen 103km DNF last weekend I have been running this week without the watch (nor did I look at the clocks at home before/after). Just doing easy recreational fun runs discovering new paths, trails and ways through the forest and city (some of them quite adventurous involving crawling and climbing). Really cool and fun. Being out there without measuring a thing and just run by feeling. Today I did my first run with the watch again. ⛰️🐐👊

I've had 3 pairs of Saguaro shoes, love them - light, flexible and comfy. I often forget I got them on.

The first two pairs lasted about 1.5-2 years, of daily use, 5+ km dog walking, shopping, hiking etc in all weathers, before they wore out. One pair is still in use as wild swimming shoes.

Sadly the newest pair started to show wear within a month of use. Fabric coming apart from the sole and even ripping and the stitching is coming out.

Which is a bit annoying since the newest pair was more expensive.

So therefore the attempt to repair with a kit from pairups.co.uk/

Please watch youtu.be/fHy5qzngLkg to know why repairing your shoes is a good idea.
