Started today's long run with a slightly different 8km out, then and a familiar 13.1km home.
I went off too quickly, slowed on the trails, then took a tumble at 15, before a turtle-esque trundle home.
This is the 4th time I've run 21.1km, it's also the slowest it's taken me - However; this is my 1st barefoot shoe half, and it has laid down a challenge for me to better for next time..

Question for the runners here: On Sunday I will participate in a 25km-race that has according to its topographic profile two steep climbs in its second half.
I planned to negative split.
But now I am not sure because those climbs will probably slow me down quite a lot. Should I change my pacing-strategy or can I ignore it because those climbs are steep but short? #running

🏃🏽5K Time Trial
Today I planned a 5K time trial. My objective was to launch an attempt at getting a sub-20 time. Also meaning a PB. And without going all out.
I succeeded in getting my first sub-20 5K time 🥳🕺🏼 and hence a new PB (Garmin registered it as 19:37, Strava as 19:29 🤷🏻♂️). In fact; multiple PBs 👏🏻.
I started too fast though. Struggling with the last 2K. Last was close to “all out” (I was toast). Subject to improvement 😇

Figured I should make an attempt at a longer Zone 2 run and managed 75% in the correct zone. The 30 seconds in 4&5 was me sprinting out of the way of a pickup truck that tore around a corner in Sandy Hill unexpectedly.
Nice bike ride around #Ottawa and checking some things at Lebreton.
Everyone I meet on my runs gets a smile and a friendly "hello" from me. It's actually quite selfish. It costs me nothing, but every smile I get back gives me strength. Especially this elderly lady who is walking regularly along the Moselle. She seems very bitter. She always gets a special friendly smile and, on Saturdays, a "have a nice weekend." When she smiles and says hello back, it gives me superpowers. 😀🏃🏞

Dank "personal" Regenwolke hatte ich das Glück den ersten warmen "Sommerregen" zu genießen und es machte das erste Mal Kuckuck aus dem Wald! Hab das Grinsen nicht mehr aus dem Gesicht gekriegt 🕺 😅
PS: Kommt man eigentlich in die Hölle, wenn man Fahrradsocken zum Laufen anzieht?

I hoped to be a bit quicker after my midweek rest, but the temp caught me out, plus I forgot sweat-brow wiper, so stinging eyes plagued me.
Saw a friend I haven't seen for a long while, so, stopped to natter, which was really nice, kinda ruined the flow, but it doesn't matter, this run had a chill vibe anyway.

Really great strength workout (Strength with Sam Ep64) and I'll feel for a while, and then a short (and reasonably quick for me) run.
Finished April with 327KM of #Running, so I'm quite pleased - most KMs since Jan 2023 (441).
Time to get ready for hop on the bike and head out into the world for some meetings.
