Today I didn't want to run 10 km, and remembered a 'shortcut' on the course. It shortened the distance by exactly -1.4 km. And I had forgotten the nasty climb on the route.

I went the whole of yesterday suffering nausea and stomach ache, and climbed into bed at the end of the day feeling like my guts had been used as a trampoline - so I'm having a rest day where I don't feel like shit.
So I thought, let's find a new super bright running top (for winter)

⛰️🫏 Some meters going up and the same meters going down: 10km/531m EG and 7km/508m EG.
Kilometer 7-8 in the first run took 17min. About a 80m descent and 80m ascent over 300m plus 300m. 10min going down, 7min going up. So steep, so much scrambling, so technical. Fun but tough, on my limit today.
Seit 40 Jahren fahre ich regelmäßig zwischen Köln und Dortmund am Rastplatz Remscheid vorbei. Seit mindestens 30 Jahren will ich zum dortigen Hotel hochfahren und an der Eschbachtalsperre spazieren gehen.
Heute war es endlich soweit. Allerdings hab ich gleich die ganze Gegend an der Talsperre im Lauftempo 🏃🏻♂️ erkundet.
Hat sich absolut gelohnt 👍🙂

Bei meinem Lauf 🏃🏻♂️ am Mittwoch wurde ich zum ersten Mal von Insekten gestochen und gebissen.
Dabei ist der Biss einer Bremse (?) besonders unangenehm.
Da ich bis jetzt noch kein Insektenschutzmittel genutzt habe, werde ich zukünftig HÄRTERE Verteidigungsmaßnahmen ergreifen‼️
Auf den Volkslauf 'Monte Sophia' am 20.08.2025 wurde ich von @sl1974 und @oliver aufmerksam gemacht.
Da ich die Gegend direkt am Tagebau Hambach sehr spannend fand, habe ich mir eine Strecke auf Basis des Volkslaufes erstellt und bin sie gestern gelaufen.
Es war richtig hart 🥵 aber es hat sich auch absolut gelohnt 👍🙂
Und ich habe Wildpferde gesehen 🐎🐎🤗

I got my Garmin back. I survived 8 days with out it.
Did the “usual” running in the meantime. Though I increased the amount of scrambling/climbing routes (equivalent to maybe a T3+/T4 for shorter stretches). As well as doing a couple of orienteering sessions with map and compass. That was a lot of fun and had been a while since the last time. The map is the green forest from the satellite image.

I asked how it thinks about my run today. I actually fat-fingered the question (was still standing on my treadmill), but it understood me fine.
Then it proceeded to give me a letter grade: a A-minus! I think I got dinged for not raising the treadmill 0.5-1% (although it had no way of knowing), and I ran a bit too fast in my last rep.
So far so good!

After a resting Monday, today I trained following #ChatGPT's plan: 10-15min warmup w/ 2x20s strides, followed by 4x3m at 7-7.3mph intervals, then cooled down.
After the run, I just uploaded a screenshot (picture 1) with minimal hints. I wanted to test if ChatGPT can read numbers off the charts: it nailed it! (picture 2)

Today's trail running tip: Get yourself some salami sticks. Not only are they tasty, salty and contains carbs and protein. In a nice easy eatable packaging that ain't too messy and don't drip sticky stuff, like other spots "food" do.
They also double as drumsticks for air drumming, which any trail runner worth their sweaty salt, will need while listening to wicked tunes, like when Lars drums his way through Metallica's banger of an album - Black Album, which was today's RAAAD.

Today was solo adventure time!
I climbed Mont Valaisan, via Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, Mont Belvédère and Bella Valetta.
A bunch of great climbs, sometimes very technical. Nice flowing descents I could bomb down and other very technical ones I had to dance down. It was rather cold in the morning, but once I got lower again around noon it started to be very hot.
Nach 5 Tagen komplett ohne sportliche Betätigung startete heute mit lockeren 10K meine zweite Vorbereitungsphase auf den Siebengebirgsmarathon 🏃🏻♂️🤗
Und obwohl die sportfreien Tage zum Teil ungewollt waren, haben sie doch sehr gut getan 👍🙂
