microhive.social is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
Tried run-walk-run method by Jeff Galloway. Works fine in normal training, if:
a) It is over 30 degress
b) you had a big pizza for lunch
I had both a) and b) today
What I also found out:
During longer runs I unattentionally used this method already when I did running between the eat and drink sections, when I was walking.

Mein Ziel ist und war es eigentlich immer, möglichst lange Strecken zu laufen 🏃♂️ Bei den Versuchen hat mich mein Körper aber leider regelmäßig im Stich gelassen.
Jetzt hab ich durch Zufall etwas von der "Run Walk Run"-Methode gelesen und denke, das wäre etwas für mich.
Bevor ich nun blindlings anfange und wahrscheinlich alles falsch mache, werde ich erstmal das Buch von Jeff Galloway, dem Erfinder dieser Methode durchlesen.

The path along the Moselle is flooded at the moment, which was a good opportunity to run across the fields again. As there are a few climbs, I was a little worried about my hip. But it was OK. -1° but no wind, so no problem. Really enjoyed it. @damianlehmann Still haven't learned anything about teh right clothing.

Es war der 10. Januar 2025, 16:14 Uhr, als ich meine 9,7 km lange Strecke begann. Nach 57 Minuten fühlte ich mich erschöpft, aber stolz. Mein Tempo betrug etwa 5:54 Minuten pro Kilometer. Während des Laufs dachte ich an das Zitat von Steve Prefontaine: „Die meisten Menschen träumen von Erfolg, während andere jeden Morgen aufstehen und ihn verwirklichen.“ Dieses Gefühl, endlich zu laufen, war unbezahlbar.

#running update - running not happening, extended rest did nothing to sort heel issues.
Just seen GP though and have been given a referral to an orthopaedic specialist for achilles tendinopathy and/or enthesopathy - progress! Just more time out sadly 😞. It’s genuinely affecting my mental health - and my eyesight believe it or not.

Today I had to run during my lunch break. But I left later so the changing room was empty and already cleaned. Good plan! I could play in the mud a bit today. 😅 At 1° C my wet feet were like ice cubes after a while. But nothing that a hot shower can fix. 👍

Plank was hard this morning. I think strength training tweaked by left thigh, as the run was a bit uncomfortable.
Windy and chilly, and I was comfortable because I dressed for it. Didn't see any of the “usual” runners this morning, but a few cyclists and pedestrians.

I wanted to try to go running during my lunch break today, but the changing rooms in the office were completely overcrowded and dirty. The January runners don't understand taking off their dirty and wet shoes before going inside.
But the evening atmosphere on the river was great. The Moselle is also flooded. Because it is dammed, it normally flows very calmly. When it is flooded, it becomes wilder and you can hear it flowing. With 5°C still not too cold. A really nice run. 😃

Breaking news: mozart 100 by UTMB 🤠🤭
I decided that I will visit Austria 🇦🇹 in June and take on the longest mozart 100 by UTMB challenge.
It will be totally alone. Just like my first “by UTMB” race in Croatia 🇭🇷 some almost 2 years back. I would love to bring my family … but it’s not super practical in terms of vacation days and economy. So alone it is (slightly nervous in a good way… excited is probably a better expression).
Ich lief 7,0 km und startete am 7. Januar 2025 um 12:19 Uhr. Nach 34 Minuten fühlte ich mich erschöpft, aber auch erfüllt. Mein Tempo betrug 4:52 Minuten pro Kilometer. Es war eine Herausforderung, aber ich erinnerte mich an das Zitat von Steve Prefontaine: „Der einzige Weg, um zu beweisen, dass man ein guter Läufer ist, ist, zu laufen.“ Diese Worte motivierten mich, weiterzumachen.
Tradition verpflichtet – 2025 NYRR Resolution Run 5K:
Wie in jedem Jahr laufe ich als einen meiner ersten Läufe im Jahr – wie in den letzten Jahren auch – den Virtual Resolution Run der NYRR. Insbesondere natürlich auch, um eine 2025 auf den Straßen in Büttgen zu laufen.

Very easy 10 km as the first run of the year. A little rainy, but at 9°C it was pretty warm (too warm for Jan). My hips have been quiet for the last 2 weeks. Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

I'm particularly pleased with the 2,400m elevation gain this week, which is a 6-month best for me. However, the DOMS in my calves shows I'm some way off sustaining this kind of load; mission: mountain legs after the next race.

2024 Running Wrap Up
Had the wildest running year (again 😆). Ran 8 ultra races. Including the 100K UTMB CCC with 6K EG. And my first 100M - Kullamannen by UTMB 🇸🇪. Also my first Backyard Ultra (17 🔄). And my first 12 hour race (~100K). All wonderful formats 🤩
Also renewed most PRs on all major distances. Most proud of my sub 90 min half marathon (🤯). Couldn’t do that today 😆

First run of the year. Things are really starting to get exciting now with 3 weeks to go until the ARC-50M. In 2 weeks we will travel to the UK for a week of relaxation and exploration of the course. Fingers crossed that everything stays intact until then.
Dear #running bubble, do you have any recommendations for a water-repellent (not waterproof) running jacket with a hood for moderate winters (~0°C), ideally not too loose?
I'm looking for an upgrade, but so far, all the options I've come across in the past few evenings seem to be either too thin, not water-repellent, not my style, and/or outrageously expensive.
