Today's run felt unusually hard, even though the pace was moderate and my heart rate was quite low, but it was completely uneven. Maybe because it was the third day in a row. I'm not a daily runner anymore. But it was also very humid, which I'm not used to at the moment.

#MillTown #Marathon #race is done today! My chip time was 3:24:01 pace 7'47"/mi, and was 9th place out of 130, and the first in my age/gender division! I ran this same course last year as my first-ever marathon race, and this time I shaved off 27 minutes!

It's that way that in the past, you only remember the good things and not the bad. It's the same with running courses. You just think, "Oh, that one goes through the forest so nicely, I could run that again." Of course, you forget about the nasty climb. 😅🏃

Yes! A new personal best at 10k. I started way back (section H) so I had to overtake a lot of people. It was warm and windy but luckily I could keep up a pace of around 5' /km. And the final 2 k it's all or nothing 😅. Lots of people along the course, shouting encouraging stuff. With my name on the bib it's easy 'come on Johan!...you can do it !...nearly there!...
And afterwards celebrating with colleagues 🍻.

I had a cramp in my left calf Friday night, so I postponed yesterday's run until today. It wasn't a problem, but I took it easy. It's great to be fit. 10 km in an hour without effort.

#Komoot fängt wohl schon an zu zerbröseln. Unter anderem zeigt die Startseite nicht mehr an, wenn meine engsten FreundInnen und sonstige Gefolgte eine neue Tour gemacht haben. Umgekehrt scheint es ebenso zu sein – ich mache die tollsten Touren, und es gibt ungewohnterweise keinerlei Reaktionen. Der Support reagiert auch noch nicht.

Very good experience. Ran to just before my breaking point 👌🏻👍🏻. Almost cramps … just avoided it by managing effort, salt 🧂, hydration etc. it’s been a while since I worked this hard. On road I ran almost at full speed. Sand and stone beach segments slowed down everything ofc 🤠… and some headwind  
That was more fun and more successful than I expected after last weeks marathon. Beautiful day #trailrunning and teaching my legs who has the right of house here.
Might not mean a lot to many, but does to me. Join me in celebrating my turnaround in life and managing to show up for 1250 days in a row now.

Week 16, run 1/3
Knee problem is gone 🎉 and I went out for an easy run with my new and first pair of #barefoot #running shoes: the #Xero Aqua X Sport.
From the first strides some differences are striking: overstriding hurts the heel and there's no energy returned because there's no cushioning.
Therefore even being light on your feet is enforced and core engagement is crucial.
I got the hang of it after 20'.
Post-run barefoot shoes update: feet muscles I didn't know I had are a bit sore. This is quite interesting!
And I feel a light tightness on my right calf that I would rate at 3/10. Nothing to worry about if it goes away tomorrow.
Did a short run to see if my injured knee is already improving. Almost a week without running felt pretty crappy. Knee is doing a little bit better. It didn’t feel as bad as Sunday, but still a little painful. So it seems the rest and exercises are helping. But I won’t be able to pick up my training unfortunately.
A 2h30 easy run today.
According to #Runalyze my marathon readiness is 102%.
So I am ready for the Rotterdam Marathon this weekend.
But it aint gonna happen.
I am saving my legs and energy for #SnowDonia in 5 weeks😆.
