One thing that made (or any other similar chatbots) stand out compared to something static like or Runna’s training plans, is the flexibility. For example, when I initially asked it to create a week-by-week training plan, I forgot to mention a September race I signed up recently ( Harvest Half). It promptly adjusted my plan and now my half would become my tempo practice run before the full marathon race in October!

When we get komooted [or stravad or … (my addition)]

“…Komoot is neither a moral failure nor an outlier but the capitalist system of value extraction working exactly as intended for the platform owners. Whether they’re called Komoot, Strava, AllTrails, or Garmin, for-profit corporations squeeze and sell us out when we give them the opportunity...”

“To boost engagement and capture groups of users, capital co-opts our human instinct to connect with one another and contribute to a “community” and sells it back to us. As corporations—bureaucratic entities—cannot create value themselves, they instead lure us, social beings, with promises of “community.” In contributing to a corporate “community,” we’re providing free digital labor toward proprietary, engagement-driving features that expand the user base for the profit of the owners. In fact, we suckers even pay for the privilege. Betrayed, we see this “community” for what it is: a mirage.”

“platforms turn to pure rent-seeking—direct extraction of money without creating real value to users. The deal between the corporate platform and the users can and will be continuously altered to the owner’s advantage, degrading the user experience”

sometimes after a notable feat, like running an ultra marathon, you feel invincible. then, there's always something that will bring you back to earth.

what would you add to the list?

Garmin quo vadis? A Garmin Connect+ premium subscription? Really?

Makes you look cheap and greedy - considering the price of your more advanced watches. Luckily I don’t need the features you are now hiding behind the pay wall. Maybe the Performance Dashboards would be nice to have. And considering that Garmin Connect basically never gets an update those dashboards could have been released for free. And a useless AI? Haven’t you learned from the really bad Strava AI?

Seems DC Rainmaker is not impressed either.

Is the now also reaching Garmin?
