I hiked to the top of this big rock today in southern (Mt. Monadnock). Glad to make it up safely on this long steep section of trail (class II) as it had turned into a frozen over the winter (top right). Mild temps and light wind made for great weather. Wonderful views at the top in all directions!

    These icy sections of are what remained of the in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didn’t need microspikes as I could “rock hop” through the sections of ice.

        So langsam nervt mich der Winter etwas. Also, nicht der Winter an sich, aber dieses mehr an Klamotten was man beim Laufen am Leib trägt. Ich freue mich jetzt schon sehr auf Shorts und Trikot (um dann wieder über die Hitze zu jammern 🤣 ...). War trotzdem ne schöne Runde.

                                                    0°C und etwas windig, leichten Schneefall gabs auch noch kurz, alles egal, das war mal wieder ein sehr fluffig leichter Lauf und eine schöne Kompensation zu dieser Schneematsch-Sache vor zwei Tagen 🙂

                                                          Schnee und Eis, kommt doch, na los!

                                                          Ich hab die flachen Best Grip Spikes 3000B als Gesamtpaket 3020 gekauft.
                                                          Vermutlich reichen 6-8 Stück pro Sohle.
                                                          8mm Sohle solle vorhanden sein, sonst wird das nix, ist aber durch die Stollen bei den Ibex kein Problem.

                                                            Crisp and dry cold outside. That was tough for the first few minutes, then it became one of the most well-balanced runs this year. I was enjoying myself and the audiobook, had a lot of long glances at the clear night sky – and I was totally on my own, which is one of the treats of running early. Yeah!

                                                              Crunch-crunch-crunch-crunch – that sound accompanied me for ~2 hours this morning. Almost all of the ground is covered with dry leaves which are now frozen. So stepping on them is quite a great feeling and a childhood memories triggering sensation. It was the best part of today‘s morning run, although I can now definitely say that AFRICAN SAMURAI by Craig Shreve is a marvelous novel (based on historical facts). Have a great Sunday, y‘all!

                                                                This morning, a new batch of firewood was delivered to our house (first pic). Three and a half hours later, all of it has been stowed away for the winter (second pic). All of this was done at freezing temperatures and in harsh wind. Brrrrrrr 🥶🥶🥶 But now we’re ready for the cold season.

                                                                    Another snowy day, but I got a good nine and a half hours of sleep (and almost two more as a nap), so that couldn’t stop me. With my trusted EXOspikes on my Brooks shoes, it was a delightful experience to run through the woods in this beautiful weather. I misjudged the distance slightly – but I‘m happy with the outcome.

                                                                          No new snow over night, also: no clouds. And it‘s really colder now (~ -6 degrees Celsius). Even within my gloves my fingers got icy cold and a little numb towards the end of the run. And yet, it’s no longer slippery, I could – at least in some places – accelerate and keep the tempo for some time. That feeling is so awesome, just flying along through the night, there’s nothing outside my moving circle of light. The world is small and focused. Yeah!

                                                                            Whoa! 1-2 centimeters of snow, -2 degrees Celsius, partially slippery, so there was no way of *just running* (at least on the sidewalks and streets). At each bend I reduced my speed significantly to avoid slipping and falling, I‘m glad it worked. On the trails, it was different. Mostly. Some places were completely covered in 2-5 centimeters of snow, at other times I could speed along easily. Soon I‘ll have to get out my EXO-spikes again…

                                                                              STAR WARS run today! Snowfall and headlights, just like a flight with the Millenium Falcon… 😜 Snow and a very mushy ground made everything slower than usual, but I had a lot of fun. And I finished the 7th audiobook (great stuff).
