The Arc 25 mandatory kit logistics is harder work than the race 😂
I had to upgrade to a 20L pack from my usual 10L, but it does all pack down (just). Weighs a lot though. I have been training with a loaded pack and it's enough to induce walking on some inclines.
2 separate headtorches each with dedicated backup power feels like overkill for what's probably 2 or 3 hours of night running tops. I'm guessing they copy/pasted the kit from Arc 100 and didn't prune as much as they could.

A late afternoon 12km trail run at about -11C.
We had a lot more snow, but a few days ago the usual warm "Fön" wind with gusts of more than 100 km/h literally blew it away. At the moment it's just cold, very cold, and it can be quite difficult and even dangerous to run because of the ice that often covers the trails, including wells like the one in the picture.

@stefanonegri @Lee6 @running Yes, I've thought of that too. As far as I've heard, the biggest disadvantage of spikes is that running on asphalt and similar surfaces, even if only for a while, becomes quite uncomfortable.
But I still want to try it out – what I will probably do is the following with an old pair of #running shoes:

Es war eine Herausforderung, aber ich fühlte mich lebendig. Wie der berühmte Läufer Steve Prefontaine sagte: „Es gibt keine Grenzen. Es gibt nur Plateaus, und du musst weiter darüber hinaus gehen.“

Sunday here I had to be home at around 08:00 🕗- and likely not have much time to take a solo run at all during the day. So the usual trick; get up early and check off the run.
It was quite foggy and dark. So it really allows for tuning into a pod cast. Today one of the trail runner nation podcast episodes.
Yeah it may be hard to get up. But there’s also something unique about running in the morning before everyone wakes up👏🏻

We're doing this corporate challenge in EMEA IT at the moment to go in sum a specific distance together. So I planned for 14km today. After 7km I had this #ForrestGump thing. At 10.5km I didn't want to risk anything and turned. And for the first time since years I had a #runnersHigh at km 14 clearly visible at the pace. 😅 The last 2km were a bit hard, but still OK. Während des Laufs fühlte ich mich lebendig und entschlossen. Wie der berühmte Läufer Steve Prefontaine sagte: „Der größte Satz, den man sagen kann, ist: Ich habe es versucht.“ Mit jedem Schritt spürte ich die Freiheit des Laufens.
Endlich wieder #Laufen. Die unfreiwillige Pause war sehr nervig.

Mit den 18 k nähere ich mich immer mehr dem Halbmarathon 🤗 Eine gute Gelegenheit, um erstmalig meine neue Laufstrategie für Langstrecken zu testen.
Die bestand aus einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 6:15 Minuten, Gehpausen alle 4 k sowie Energie-Gel bei 4 k und 12 k.
Das Ganze fühlte sich sehr gut an 👍
Spannend wird es dann morgen früh, wenn ich aufstehe 😬

Es war eine Herausforderung, aber ich erinnerte mich an das Zitat von Steve Prefontaine: „Der Schmerz ist vorübergehend. Der Stolz ist für immer.“ Es motivierte mich, weiterzumachen und meine Grenzen zu überwinden.
Dear #running bubble, please be careful with snow and ice. I slipped today on compressed snow that had turned into ice. Thankfully I got away with a clinched thumb. Even the best reaction time won't save you in a zero friction scenario, Newton's laws apply. Perhaps better to skip a few days with dangerous conditions instead of having to skip months because you broke a bone.
Ab HEUTE werde ich die Geschwindigkeit bei meinen Läufen (Ausnahme: Volksläufe) von 5:50 Minuten pro Kilometer auf 6:15 Minuten verlangsamen.
Das ist eine erste Konsequenz aus den Laufbüchern, die ich bis jetzt gelesen habe 👍

👏🏻100+ Road ish run | LNBK Ringkøbing Fjord Winter Edition 2025
7th of 34 finishers (40+ starters). Some were still out there 2h30m after I finished. I am home again - legs are busted. Proud with the result.
The finishers before me were very good 🤯 - kept up with most of them the first 30+ ish but had to fallback; the pace wasn’t sustainable for me. 10K before the finish line I passed 1 of them (gone cold).

My training for the 100miles in August starts next week. For that, I try some recommendations from Jason Koop:
- Focus on Intervals and Tempo at the beginning and endurance at the end of the plan
- Start the training block with the hardest workout and then reduce to the next week
