Although curated running is not my thing - my partner was a marathon/ultra fan- 🥇🤩 my long distance runs were always with just friends, family or my partner (as a joke I even gave her a wooden medal at the end of one as a joke). But this interested me - ‘hard to quantify precisely, the market for trail-running shoes alone is valued at anything from $4.11 billion to $8.9 billion a year.’

I just ran for 60 minutes without stopping! I haven’t managed that for years. I tried to keep my heart rate no higher than zone 4, but I had to keep pulling back as it was creeping into zone 5 all the time. Slow pace meant I only covered 6.67km but I feel very pleased considering I didn’t want to go #running at all today

Die Beine waren leer von den Eifel-Läufen und dem Training am Montag. Die Schuhe waren ausgelatscht und kommen bald in den Müll. Und eigentlich bin ich garkein schneller Läufer.
Die einzige logische Erklärung ist für mich, dass ich zum ersten Mal in den Monaten davor verletzungsfrei trainieren konnte 👍🙂

Heute ist der B2run in Köln. Nachdem er letztes Jahr im Dauerregen 🌨 stattfand, sieht es dieses Jahr dagegen sehr freundlich aus 🌤
Für mich ist der Lauf eine schöne Gelegenheit, um mal über eine längere Distanz ein bisschen Gas zu geben. Was bei meinen Laufeinheiten doch eher selten der Fall ist.

Der Rheinauer Straßenlauf fand in diesem Jahr zum 38. Mal statt. Ich war zum zweiten Mal dabei und erlebte ein Rennen mit einem bitteren Nachgeschmack.

I’m off for Labor Day so I took advantage and went to run some trails about 30 minutes away. I thought I was getting a late start arriving at the trailhead a little after 7 so I was confused that the park ranger arrived to open the gate right before I got there. As I was driving in I saw a sign “Gate Open by 8 AM”. I can only assume trail runners in #seattle don’t have regular day jobs. #running
Because I was literally the first person out on the trail this morning my reward was running through about a thousand spider webs. Complaining aside it was a good run, the morning mist kept me cool for the entire 10 miles. This is my second trip to Taylor Mountain, I adjusted the Strava route I built so now most the way is on actual trail instead of jeep roads. #running
August #running recap: compared to July I have 225.4 → 152.2mi (168.7 w/ walking), EG 4,419 → 1,206ft, 34 → 24hr running.
This was down significantly from July, due to tapering/recovering for the two races: #TunnelVision #Marathon (all-downhill) and today's #Redmond Harvest #HalfMarathon (3 weeks apart). My VO2Max via #AppleWatch is also consistently above 51 now!
I'm at 1,832.4 of yearly goal 2,400mi, 234.6 ahead. My next marathon #race is in October (last chance to #BQ this year)! Onward!

I was hoping for 1:39:00 and the first half went with the plan (sounds familiar). Lost steam after that, and picked myself up and ended w/ peak 5'52”/mi.
I've run this race since 2023, with time progression 1:56:05 → 1:45:08 → 1:40:45. Progress made. But #CoachGPT wasn't too happy! 😆

Skipped today’s #Parkrun, and shadow-ran with my daughter in the community 5K race. It's her first race coming back to the school cross-country team after *two* years in recovery from her running injury. She did quite well in the first mile, but ran out of steam after finishing the first 2 miles. But this was only the first week, and i know she will outrun me in no time!
I did manage to sprint a bit at the end -- 4'28"/mi -- my fastest stride ever! 🙂

Mein zweiter Lauf hier in Monschau war nochmal eine Steigerung zu Donnerstag. Sowas wie Trailrunning Plus 🙂
Ein super Lauf, auch wenn a) der Donnerstag noch in meinen Beinen steckte und b) die Strecke seeeehr technisch war.
Obwohl gerade das technische den meisten Spaß machte 🤗
Nebenbei hab ich mit 840 Höhenmetern einen persönlichen Rekord aufgestellt 🥳
Monschau hat sich also gelohnt 👍👍👍

Speed hiking is not only happening in Chamonix this weekend. Did some 16km with ↗️⛰️ 850m and ↘️⛰️ 850m. Now I know every single root and rock by name. And I could maybe scramble the 500m up blindfolded.

Aufgrund des Regens ist der Boden hier in Monschau ziemlich feucht und rutschig.
Dann sollte ich morgen früh wohl besser in Schuhen mit Profil laufen. Somit kommen meine neuen Hoka Challenger 8 zu ihrem ersten großen Einsatz 🤗
Bin schon zwei kleinere Strecken mit ihnen gelaufen und erwarte eigentlich keine großen Probleme.

Auf und ab, technische Pfade und laufbare Wege, Sonne und Regen mit einem gigantischen Regenbogen, tolle Ausblicke, eine Burg usw.. Alles war mit dabei 👍🙂👍
Nur am letzten Anstieg zurück zur Unterkunft verließen mich meine Kräfte 🥵 Da hab ich dann gemerkt, wie anspruchsvoll die Strecke war. Aber dafür bin ich auch nach Monschau gefahren 😊

Cold weather kits have been activated for both the CCC and UTMB for the Mont Blanc finals in Chamonix. Also if you want to watch the start of UTMB live. Today, I went for a #run for #fitness for the first time in 25 years.
There's a bit of a backstory if you care to read about it.
I'm a decent #racing #cyclist. #Running is really uncomfortable to me. It's a lot of impact and all your organs get jostled. A year ago this weekend, I had to run 2 blocks for some reason and it felt like the most unnatural thing. It was a bit of a wake up, because running should be very natural. (1/2)
I participated in the DHL Relays this evening together with some good colleagues. I had planned to take it easy and just cover some more ground before the marathon (T minus 10 days) - but I got carried away and soon pushed to run fast. It was not a disciplined decision, and it probably wasn't smart, but I truly enjoyed it.
And I succeeded in doing 10k in less than 50 minutes, which is a big(!) deal for me. My app says 49:56, official timekeeping 49:34.
Today I didn't want to run 10 km, and remembered a 'shortcut' on the course. It shortened the distance by exactly -1.4 km. And I had forgotten the nasty climb on the route.
